Meet Jenna – Therapist, Resource Queen, and Chaos Coordinator
Jenna is the owner and licensed professional counselor behind At Ease Counseling—aka the mastermind who turned a vision into a thriving mental health practice. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Messiah University in 2007 and taught elementary school for several years. She soon realized that teaching didn't give her the ability to fully invest in little humans like she thought it would. So, she changed her path and pursued a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University. She graduated in 2012 and launched her career in an outpatient agency before finally bringing her dream of opening her own practice to life in 2016.
When deciding on a specialty, Jenna considered all the possibilities. Then, after having her second child and experiencing her own postpartum anxiety and OCD, she had an aha! moment—perinatal and infant mental health was the area where she could make the biggest impact. Drawing from both personal experience and extensive training through Postpartum Support International, Jenna became a fierce advocate for new moms navigating the messy, beautiful, and sometimes totally overwhelming world of parenthood.
Her superpower? Building strong relationships and meeting clients exactly where they’re at—whether that’s knee-deep in diaper blowouts or navigating the mental load of motherhood. Some clients have even dubbed her the "Resource Queen," because if there's a helpful book, app, or support group out there, Jenna will find it for you.
Jenna has a particular passion for treating postpartum anxiety and OCD and is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) through the Cognitive Behavioral Institute. She’s also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy through the Trauma Specialists Training Institute—because sometimes, healing requires rewiring the brain, not just talking things out.
More recently, Jenna has started working with families seeking autism service consultation, guiding them through the often mind-boggling process of evaluations, diagnoses, and accessing care for their children. Think of her as a GPS for the autism services world—no wrong turns, just a clear route to the support you need.
Life Outside the Therapy Room
When she’s not helping clients, Jenna is off traveling and exploring new places with her military husband and their two sweet (and sassy) daughters. She also serves as the Climb Out of the Darkness Chairperson for the Delaware Chapter of Postpartum Support International, working to raise awareness and support for maternal mental health—because no parent should have to struggle in silence.
(Fun fact: If you ask her about mental health, travel, or the best local coffee spots, she will talk your ear off. Consider yourself warned!) ☕😆
